About the Map Tool

Make your own 2026 election map

The ElectIndex Map Tool is a free electoral map maker. Color in the states, congressional districts, or counties yourself, assign each one to a candidate at any confidence level, and watch the running Electoral College — or Senate and House — tally update live as you paint.

Six canvases cover the maps people actually argue about: the presidential race for any cycle from 1928 to 2028, the 2026 Senate and governor contests, all 435 House districts, the full sweep of 3,142 counties, and any single state broken down to its counties. Click a unit to cycle its strength from Safe to Tilt, or drag across the map to fill a whole region at once.

You do not have to start from a blank map. Load the real results of any past presidential election, drop in the current ElectIndex 2026 forecast ratings, or build a scenario from scratch. Every change is saved automatically in your browser, and a full undo history lets you experiment freely without losing your place.

When a map is done it lives entirely in a shareable link — no account, nothing kept on our servers — so a scenario you send opens exactly as you drew it. You can also export a clean SVG or a high-resolution PNG, tally strip and legend included, ready to post.
